Drake’s Label Seeks Dismissal of Lawsuit Over Kendrick Lamar ‘Not Like Us,’ Claims Rapper ‘Lost a Rap Battle He Provoked’

Universal Music Group has filed a motion to dismiss a lawsuit brought by Drake, claiming that Kendrick Lamar’s song “Not Like Us” is part of hip-hop diss culture and protected under the First Amendment. UMG argues that Drake lost a rap battle he provoked and participated in, leading to the lawsuit. Drake’s attorney contends that UMG is trying to distract from profiting off dangerous misinformation. Despite losing the beef with Lamar, Drake remains a top-selling hip-hop artist globally.
