Beyoncé Is Under Fire

Fans are criticizing Beyoncé for screening her Renaissance performance film in Israel. Renaissance: A Film by Beyoncé will be released on December 1 and chronicles her 2022 album and record-breaking world tour.

Pro-Palestinian supporters are upset the film will be shown in Israeli theaters and have criticized the artist on social media for supporting civil rights and female empowerment but not Israel-Hamas.

“She’s nobody’s savior. Just another capitalist who doesn’t care about Palestine,” wrote Wambúi wa Mwatha on X, the social network formerly known as Twitter. “Black liberation intersects with Palestinian liberation,” posted @ho3micidee. “This shouldn’t even be a debate.” Khoisan agreed, writing: “You are progressive when it suits you, and it’s not cute.”

The Beyhive was quick to support the artist. “If Beyoncé is nobody’s savior, why is she then expected to speak on Palestine?” commented Owlie. “Tough to swallow that a songstress gotta bear the brunt of global politics, slingin’ solutions like she’s the UN,” wrote Tanya.

Do you think Beyoncé should have banned her film in Israel?
