Sources say Jackson has reached out to Spears amid the increasing focus on her past, providing support based on their similar experiences of negative press they believe Timberlake influenced.

A source told The Mirror: “The backlash still bonds Janet and Britney, and Janet has reached out to offer her support and encouragement. Britney was appalled by the way Janet was treated during the Super Bowl and felt she was being attacked by the same PR machine that had denigrated her.”

Timberlake apologized for his acts that hurt both women and for not standing up for them.
